Linux Professional Institute to Develop Enterprise-level "Security" Exam
( Sacramento , USA , March 27, 2008) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization ( http://www.lpi.org ), announced the development of a new "Security" exam elective for its LPIC-3 certification program.
Early in 2007 LPI launched the enterprise level certification program, LPIC-3, with a core certification exam (LPI-301) and a "Mixed Environment" elective (LPI-302). In 2008 LPI will develop a "Security" elective (LPI-303) to accompany this level of the program. The introduction of this advanced-level "Security" elective follows extensive consultation with industry leaders and enterprise customers on priorities for the LPIC-3 program.
Exam development for the LPI-303 "Security" elective is underway with the identification of job tasks associated with qualified candidates who have expertise in enterprise-level security skills. This will be followed by an extensive global J ob Task Analysis survey in J uly-August 2008. The exam development program will also include objective and item development and a series of "beta" exams at special events around the world (October-November 2008). The initial LPIC-3 exams made successful and extensive use of volunteer participation in special "beta" exam events. Final exams are expected to be published and launched at the end of February 2009.
Linux professionals interested in participating in the exam development process or in taking the LPI-303 "beta" exams to be offered later in the year are invited to join LPI's exam development mailing list by contacting LPI's Malta Master Affiliates Computer Domain Ltd by sending them an email on exams@computerdomain.net with the subject title being: “LPI-303 Beta Exam”. In your email include all your contact details and any LPI qualifications you attained.
In February LPI also issued a call for volunteers to assist in an updated J ob Task Analysis ( J TA) survey for the organization's LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certification programs.
